We built Faye because we believe period tracking should be 100% free and private. This policy explains in simple language how we protect your data and respect your privacy.

Our Privacy Promises

When using Faye, we promise:

  • Your period tracking data stays on your device
  • We don't require an account to use the app
  • We don't sell or share your personal data with third parties
  • We make it easy to delete your data completely

The Data You Enter Stays on Your Device

The most important thing to understand: the personal health data you enter in Faye stays on your device. This includes:

  • Period start and end dates
  • Symptoms and moods
  • Notes and tags
  • Predictions and cycle data
  • Any other personal information you enter

Unlike many period tracking apps, we don't store your sensitive health information on our servers. This means:

  • Your data is not vulnerable to data breaches
  • Your data cannot be accessed by third parties
  • Your data cannot be sold or shared
  • Your data cannot be requested by entities like government agencies

How You Can Verify Your Data Stays Local

Unlike native mobile apps that use compiled code where you can't see what's happening under the hood, Faye is built on the web. This transparency means:

  • You can view our source code directly
  • You can monitor network requests to confirm no data is being sent
  • You can verify where and how your data is stored

Try this yourself: Faye works offline. Open the calendar page and turn off your internet connection. You should still be able to log and view all your period data without any restrictions.

Why We Don't Require Accounts

We don't ask for your email, name, or other personal information to create an account. This is intentional! By not having user accounts, we:

  • Collect less personal data about you
  • Ensure nothing links your identity to your period data
  • Make the app faster and easier to use
  • Reduce security risks associated with account credentials

Data Backup and Transfer

Even though data stays on your device, we know you'll get new phones eventually. You can export and backup your data to your personal cloud storage (like Google Drive or iCloud) or transfer directly between devices. These backups are:

  • Never accessed by Faye
  • Under your complete control

Using Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand basic app usage numbers. Since we don't require accounts, this helps us know if the app is being used, the amount of resources to allocate to the app, and how we can improve your experience.

Faye is a progressive web app, which offers transparency benefits over traditional software from app stores. When you download apps from Apple App Store or Google Play, those stores automatically track user information, install metrics, and usage demographics. By distributing Faye directly through the web, we avoid this extra layer of tracking. With GA4, analytics is anonymous and IP addresses are not logged or stored.

There are other analytics tools we could use, but these are all paid services, and since Faye is 100% free, we don't want to use anything that would require us to pass on the cost to you.

In-app data analysis

Faye offers completely local analysis of your period data. All calculations, predictions, and insights are processed directly on your device by default.

Opt-in AI Analysis: For advanced insights, you can explicitly request AI analysis.

  • This feature is completely optional and only happens when you click the ai analysis button.
  • It never happens automatically.
  • Your data is only sent to the server when you specifically request AI analysis
  • We do not store your health data on our servers at any time
  • The sole purpose of this network call is to use AI to analyze your patterns
  • Results are immediately returned to your device

Third-party AI Processing: We use OpenAI's API for AI analysis. When you request AI analysis:

  • Your data is temporarily processed by OpenAI's systems
  • OpenAI may store the request for up to 30 days for abuse prevention purposes
  • This data is NOT used to train or improve OpenAI's models
  • The AI analysis never happens automatically, you have to specifically request it each time

How to Delete Your Data

Since all your health data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it completely by:

  • Using the "Clear All Data" option in the app settings
  • Uninstalling the app from your device
  • Using the data deletion options in settings

Children's Privacy

Faye is designed for people who menstruate of all ages, including those under 18. Because we don't collect personal information, there are minimal privacy concerns for younger users. However, we encourage parents to:

  • Review this privacy policy with their children
  • Explore the app together
  • Use the privacy features built into the app

Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll:

  • Notify you through the app
  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
  • Explain what changed in simple terms
